A discussion session was held at Misurata University on Monday 16^th of May/2016. The session was organized and led by the international office at Misurata University.  It aimed at discussing and exploring viewpoints around three topics in relation to; national strategy of higher education in Libya, objectives of higher education in Libya and governance and finance in the Libyan higher education system. The session also aimed to generate a clear vision of the future of higher education in Libya. Therefore, a group of academic staff, senior managers at the university level and interested individuals from the society were invited. Participants have highlighted deep thoughts of the three topics, as each topic was discussed mainly in two ways; first, the recent situation of each topic including challenges and difficulties facing it. Second, the desired situation that participants wish to be achieved in future. However, next three sections illustrate views and arguments generated by participants.
