Representatives from 3 EU Institutions, 6 Libyan Universities and Ministry for Higher Education in Libya got together in Tunis, Tunisia for the 2-days UNIGOV Project Meeting to discuss the current situation of Higher Education in Libya.
Since the last meeting in Istanbul the University of Alicante achieved the approval from the European Commission on the changes in the original work plan with the idea to finalise the project before the October 2016. As a result at the moment the consortium will be carefully working on drafting the “Future of Higher Education in Libya” document.
The meeting started with the presentation of each Partner Institution current situation, activities carried out up to date and the future planning of workshops to take place at each University as well as the development of the platform for conducting E-courses in the framework of Unigov Project.
The first day finished with the discussion on Higher Education in Libya where each partner has been encouraged to update the available data regarding the topic.
The second day started with the proposal to modify the original project activities and focus on feasible and relevant activities for UNIGOV partners such as drafting of a Strategy Paper for the Future of HE in Libya. This document will focus on identifying the main strategic actions to take up after the end of the conflict.
The meeting ended with the EU partners’ presentations of University Strategic and Action Plans that could serve as an example for Libyan HEIs.
All partners demonstrated strong commitment to work closely on the proposed activities and contribute to the achievement of positive results by the end of the project.
