Workshop on Strategic Plan in Al-Mergib University

On Sept.1st, 2016, at 11:00, at the Faculty of Economics & Commerce in Khoms, Al-Mergib University the International Cooperation Office in Al-Mergib University has conducted a workshop on:

                                                                        "Strategic Plan for the Future of Higher Education in Libya"

 

The workshop was divided into three parts: the first part was a presentation on UNIGOV project: significance, objectives, partners, workshops, implementation stages and challenges. The second part was on "Strategy Paper for the Future of HE in Libya". The researcher spoke about:

  • The Need for a National Strategy for Higher Education
  • The Mission of Higher Education
  • Governance, Structures and Funding

The third part was a presentation on "Strategic Plan in the University":

The researcher spoke about the following topics: Identification of strategic plan, qualities of strategic plan, factors assist the success of strategic plan, obstacles of strategic plan, requirements of strategic plan and standards of strategic plan in HE institutions.

The researcher discussed also the role of the university council through the following axes: (1) Higher education BSc stage (2) Post graduate study stage, (3) Scientific Research, (4) Student skills developing, (5) Society service, and (6) the Financial & Administrative Affairs.

The attendances were happy and satisfied with the presentations. They add some comments and discussions. And because of the importance of the strategic plan in the university, they have decided to submit a request to the university council to establish a new department by name of "Strategic Plan" management in the structure of the university to be similar with the EU partners.
