Owning to the recent reform in Libya, transparency and autonomy in the higher education have also been called for. UNIGOV project partners gathered in Tunisia in June 2013 to kick off the project with an objective to modernise university governance and management in Libya.

The Libyan Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the seven participated universities discussed the work plan and activities of the year ahead with the project coordinator, University of Alicante, as well as other European partners from the UK, Slovakia and Estonia.
